FUT ALPHA's squad system lets you organize with other players and compete as a named unit, providing a social layer on top of the core pitch simulation. This is not the club-building card economy from FUT 25 — it is a straightforward team-formation feature for players who want to run with the same group session after session.
The exact create-team UI has shifted between Pre-Alpha builds, so this guide focuses on the intent and the outcome rather than a specific menu path that may have changed since August 2026. The September 2 update may have refreshed the squad interface alongside other UI changes.
This guide explains how squads work, how to find or recruit teammates, and what to expect from team coordination in Open Beta.
How squads work in Open Beta
A squad in FUT ALPHA is a named group of players who join the same server together and compete as a team. Squads are formed through the in-game social system (exact path varies by build) or by coordinating through external means — Discord, voice chat, or text — before joining the same server.
Once in a squad, players typically join the same team on the pitch and can communicate strategy, roles, and formations before and during matches. The squad does not yet have a persistent roster or ranking system — it is a session-based team formation tool.
Do not confuse squads with FUT 25's card-based club chemistry system. There are no球员 cards, no stamina per player card, and no chemistry links in FUT ALPHA. This is on-pitch football with human players, not a card game overlay.
How to create or join a squad
To create a squad, open the social or team menu in the current build (exact label shifts between Pre-Alpha versions — community testers document "Squad", "Team", or "Create Group" as of August 2026) and follow the team creation prompts. You become the squad leader and can invite other players by name or through a party link.
To join an existing squad, accept an invite from a squad leader or use a party link to enter their lobby directly. If you join a server where a squad is already playing, you can request to join their team through the social menu if the option is available in the current build.
The September 2 update may have refreshed the squad UI. Verify the exact menu labels and options against current in-game prompts.
Where squads actually organize
The in-game squad tool is basic. Most serious squad coordination happens outside the experience: through the official FUT Discord, community Discord servers, or voice chat platforms where teammates can call formations, assign roles, and plan set-piece routines before entering a server.
Effective squad communication during a match includes: calling "man on" when a defender is closing your receiver, calling "switch" before wide switches, naming the player you are passing to, and calling for the ball when making a run. Even basic callouts dramatically improve a squad's performance compared to five strangers who do not communicate.
Use the guides section on team play and communication for specific callout habits that translate well from text or voice into fast-paced Open Beta lobbies.
